The House of St. Faustina
Walking along Grybo Street in Vilnius, there is a sign on the sidewalk leading to Grybo St. 29. to the House of St. Faustina.
After passing directly through the yard, you can see a beautiful wooden house on the hill. There is a cross in front of the house. The wooden house clearly stands out from other buildings in Antakalnis. The environment is carefully arranged and planted with roses. In this house from 1933 to 1936 lived Sister Faustyna Kowalska. To the whole world she is known as the Apostle of Divine Mercy. Theologians attribute her to one of the most famous mystics of the church. In Vilnius she experienced mystical visions, which she recorded in the diary. 2000 Faustyna Kowalska was proclaimed a Saint. According to her visions, the painter Eugeniusz Kazimierowski in 1934 painted the famous picture of the Merciful Jesus. Sister Faustina supervised and adjusted the artist's work according to her mystical visions, clarifying the details of the painting. Now the painting is in Dominikonų str. 12 in Vilnius in the Shrine of Divine Mercy, which widely visited by pilgrims not only from Lithuania, but also from all over the world. The painting can be seen at any time, the sanctuary is constantly open to visitors.
